Improving Your Pet's Health and Wellness with Laser Therapy
Greenfield Veterinary Clinic, serving greater Milwaukee area, offers pet laser therapy, also known as low-level laser therapy (LLT) for the treatment of soft tissue injuries and arthritis.
Dogs and cats both benefit from LLT. It can be used to treat arthritis and hip dysplasia as well as lacerations and surgical incisions. When LLT is used to heal wounds and surgical sites, the areas heal faster, and there is less scar tissue.
Non-Invasive and Drug-Free
LLT is non-invasive and does not involve the administration of any drugs before, during or after the treatment, and your pet does not need to be shaved. The laser light wand is placed over your pet's injured area and activated. The light penetrates deep into the skin to alleviate pain and stiffness and heal injuries.
Better Mobility
Successive treatments have proven to increase mobility in dogs and cats with moderate to severe arthritis and hip dysplasia, even if the pet has lost all mobility. After the first treatment, most pets experience less pain and can walk with assistance. After several treatments, most pets are able to walk and jump on their own.
LLT Sessions with Our Greenfield Veterinarian
Our Greenfield veterinarian can help your pet regain his or her mobility with LLT treatments. The process starts with a thorough diagnosis that may include blood work or x-rays. These tests are used to locate the sources of your pet's pain and rule out infections or other illnesses and injuries. Once we know the causes of your pet's pain, our veterinarian can effectively use LLT to lower your pet's pain and improve his or her activity levels. Most sessions last between 20 and 30 minutes, but exact session lengths depend on your pet's ailment.
